In John 14:6 Jesus said "I am the way, the…
But I know you,
that ye have not the love of God in you.
This is part 2 of 2 part series on the love of God: Part 1
What is love?
In part 1 of this teaching I addressed the reality that as someone is going to embrace “God” than they must also embrace “love” because God is love.
But the next question a thinking person might ask is: if God is love then what is love?
The Apostle Paul penned the majority of the “New Testament”. He was a very intelligent man. I have heard it said that it is estimated that today, his knowledge would have been equal to at least 3-4 PhD’s. I am certain that the part of his education he valued most was spending 3 years in the Arabian desert being schooled by the Messiah himself.
Yet with all of that, Apostle Paul makes an astounding declaration; “I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One), Philippians 3:8 (AMP)
In short he is saying that NOTHING compares to knowing the Jesus, Yeshua the Messiah and that as a manifestation of his conviction he surrendered all he had (which was a great deal).
Jesus / Yeshua was God and so if God is love, part of what Apostle Paul is saying here is that the most important thing in life is to know love; the love of God and God’s love.
Love: Where is it?
But unfortunately, the true love of God is all but extinct in America and so those who seek it must really search it out.
Add to this the very real reality that at least some, if not most of us have been outright lied to as to what love even is.
When we were young we were told things that were untrue; some were innocent misgivings by the ignorant,
while some of us were purposefully lied to by evil for evil’s sake.
All of this leads to a hodge podge of confusion making it very difficult to know God, truth or God’s love.
Hereby the mystery of why most of us don’t really know God, in a real way, is solved.
Love: What is?
God is love, but who among us can say, with authority, what love is?
